Gov. - IDEA timelines are in calendar days unless stated as business or school days (34 CFR 300.11). Hearings are conducted by OAH Special Education Division under contract with CDE (Ed. Code 56504.5). Tribunal deadline. 56501.5(d): the 45-day timeline 'starts the day after' an early-start event, which matches counting 45 days after that event. Each extension extends the decision date only by its own length (56505(f)(3)). For LEA-filed requests there is no resolution meeting; 56502(f) states 45 days after receipt of the hearing request (confirm with counsel which trigger OAH applies).
- If the clerk's office is closed or inaccessible on the last day (weather, emergency or local closure orders), the deadline may be extended. Check local orders.
This calculator applies the cited rules to the dates you enter. It is not legal advice. Court orders, local rules, and case-specific facts can change a deadline; verify before relying on it. Rule set pending attorney review.
