- Outer limit of all stipulated extensions combined for one brief (one or more stipulations, up to 60 days total per period). The rule extends the PERIOD, so add 60 days to the last day of the 40/70/30/20-day period as computed BEFORE any weekend/holiday roll, then apply the normal roll. Anything beyond requires an application to the presiding justice under 8.212(b)(3) and 8.60 (good cause; must be filed before the brief is due). Applies to Court of Appeal civil briefs under 8.212; limited civil appeals in the appellate division have their own rules (8.882).
- If the clerk's office is closed or inaccessible on the last day (weather, emergency or local closure orders), the deadline may be extended. Check local orders.
