  • Counting backward from a hearing or trial, when the day lands on a weekend or holiday we use the earlier court day. The rules do not state the direction expressly; confirm with the court.
  • CORRECTION to task premise: recording is also 'at least 20 days prior to the date of sale' (not 14 days). Same 20-day minimum for posting, first publication, property posting, and recording. Publication must continue once a week for three consecutive calendar weeks ('calendar week' = Monday through Saturday, 2924f(a)). Mailing of the notice of sale under Civ. Code 2924b (not researched in this batch) also has timing requirements. Backward count; roll to the preceding court day conservatively (the recorder is closed on weekends/holidays). Civ. Code 2924f version amended by Stats. 2025, ch. 200, sec. 7 (AB 1521), eff. Jan. 1, 2026, in effect until Jan. 1, 2031 (a different version, Stats. 2025, ch. 200, sec. 8, becomes operative Jan. 1, 2031; re-verify after that date).
  • If the clerk's office is closed or inaccessible on the last day (weather, emergency or local closure orders), the deadline may be extended. Check local orders.
