  • Counting backward from a hearing or trial, when the day lands on a weekend or holiday we use the earlier court day. The rules do not state the direction expressly; confirm with the court.
  • Critical: only timely 1250.410 offers and demands are considered for litigation expenses (attorney and expert fees). Service under CCP 1010 et seq.; extensions 'general' so mail or electronic service moves the date earlier (AMBIGUITY: whether CCP 1013 lengthens a 'before trial' period is not stated; earlier date is conservative). trial_continuance 'unclear': the statute says 'the date of the trial'; it does not say whether a continued trial date resets the deadline. Calendar from the earliest trial date in effect. Section amended Stats. 2006, ch. 594.
  • If the clerk's office is closed or inaccessible on the last day (weather, emergency or local closure orders), the deadline may be extended. Check local orders.

This calculator applies the cited rules to the dates you enter. It is not legal advice. Court orders, local rules, and case-specific facts can change a deadline; verify before relying on it. Rule set pending attorney review.
