CCP 12: "The time in which any act provided by law is to be done is computed by excluding the first day, and including the last, unless the last day is a holiday, and then it is also excluded." CCP 12a(a): "If the last day for the performance of any act provided or required by law to be performed within a specified period of time is a holiday, then that period is hereby extended to and including the next day that is not a holiday. • CORRECTION to task description: the period is 60 days, not 30 (683.160 and 683.170 as amended by Stats. 2022, ch. 883 (SB 1200), eff. Jan. 1, 2023). The notice of renewal is served personally or by first-class mail (683.160(a)). Extensions set to none (conservative for the debtor); whether CCP 1013 adds 5 days when the notice of renewal is mailed is not stated; LAWYER REVIEW. Grounds: any defense to an action on the judgment, incorrect amount, or renewal within 5 years of a prior renewal (683.170(a)). CCP 684.120(b) extends the 60 days by 5/10/20 days when the notice of renewal is served by mail; the unextended date is the debtor's safe date. [Validation 2026-11, Q0026. Authority: Cal. Code Civ.
